Okara: Mother Tongues Work to Promote and Transmit Cultural Heritage: Vice Chancellor Prof. Zakaria Zakir

اوکاڑہ(جاویدراہی)اوکاڑہ یونیورسٹی کے شعبہ اردو کی جانب سے ماں بولی کے عالمی دن کے حوالے سے ایک سیمینار کا انعقاد کیا گیا جس کا مقصد طلباء کو ماں بولی اور اس سے منسلک ثقافتی ورثے کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرنا تھا سیمینار سے خطاب کرتے ہوئے شعبہ اردو کی سربراہ ڈاکٹر سمیرا اعجاز نے کہا کہ ماں بولی تقافتی ورثے اور شناخت کو اجاگر کرتی ہے۔ ہمیں نہ صرف اپنی ماں بولی پہ فخر کرنا چاہیے بلکہ دوسری زبانوں کا بھی احترام کرنا چاہیے کیونکہ ثقافتی تنوع کے ماحول میں سیکھنے اور سکھانے کے مواقع زیادہ ہوتے ہیں۔

اس موقع پر اوکاڑہ یونیورسٹی کے وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد زکریا ذاکر نے اپنی خصوصی پیغام میں کہا کہ علاقائی زبانیں تقافت اور تقافتی اقدار کو محفوظ کرتی ہیں اور یہ ذخیرہ ملک میں ہم آہنگی، امن اور خوشحالی کے فروغ کےلیے کارآمد ہوتا ہے ماں بولیوں سے ترسیل ہونے والی علاقائی ثفافتیں نہ صرف معاشرے کے پسماندہ طبقات کو مضبوط بناتی ہیں بلکہ انہیں معاشرتی دھارے میں شامل ہونے میں بھی مدد فراہم کرتی ہیں یونیورسٹی کے ترجمان کے مطابق اس ادارے میں سولہ ہزار سے زائد طلباٰء زیر تعلیم ہیں جو کہ مختلف روایات،اقدار اور زبانوں کے حامل ہیں اوکاڑہ یونیورسٹی انتظامیہ نہ صرف اس ثفافتی تنوع کی حوصلہ افزائی کرتی ہے بلکہ تمام زبانوں اور ثقافتوں کے مساوی احترام کو یقینی بنانے کےلیے بھی کوشاں ہے

Intl. Mother Language Day seminar held at UO

The University of Okara’s Department of Urdu organized a seminar at the eve of International Mother Language Day in a bid to sensitize the students on the importance of mother languages and their underlying cultures. 

Addressing to the seminar, the In-Charge Department of Urdu, Dr. Sumaira Ijaz, said that mother languages establish and ensure cultural identity. “We should not only take pride in communicating in our mother languages but also respect and accommodate other languages as cultural diversity provide more opportunities of learning and broadening mental horizons”. 

The UO Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, in his special message at the eve, told, “The regional languages preserve cultures and cultural values which are useful for developing harmony, peace and prosperity in the country. The indigenous cultures, transmitted through local languages, empower the marginalized segments of a society and enable them to come into the mainstream”. 

According to the university spokesperson, there are currently more than 16,000 students at UO and they hail from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds۔ The UO administration encourages the cultural diversity and stresses on the equal respect for all cultures
